Council Grove and Morris County are served daily by FedEx, UPS, Yellow Freight and the myriad common carriers that serve Middle America. Council Grove is blessed to be at the intersection of two main highways – K-177, traveling north and south through Council Grove (the Flint Hills National Scenic Byway from Council Grove, south) and US 56, (the original Santa Fe Trail) transitioning Council Grove and the county from east to west. These highways carry transports of all sizes, types and complexities – including the iconic “cattle trucks” that bring thousands of cattle into the Flint Hills to graze, then carry out fatted cattle for the packing houses. They also carry cattle to be “finished” to the best cuts of meat at the Tiffany Cattle Company located near the center of Morris County. K-4 and K-149 highways also provide transportation in and out of the middle of the county east to west, and north to south and US 77, a “Super Two Highway” along the county’s western border gets products and people from the airport industrial park – or to the major educational and cultural cities, and north and south to I-70 and I-35.
